Dr Ramin Mojtabai M.D., PhD, MPH
Dr Ramin Mojtabai is a highly accomplished academic clinician holding a unique trifecta of advanced degrees (MD, PhD, and MPH). Dr Mojtabai is a board-certified psychiatrist, clinical psychologist, and mental health services researcher. He is an expert contributor sharing his research insights and expertise with The OAD Clinic. He is currently Professor and Vice-Chair of Research at Tulane University.
A highly decorated academic, Dr Mojtabai previously held professorships at the Department of Mental Health of Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University with joint appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences, and at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences of Columbia University.
His extensive work includes over 300 peer-reviewed publications and leading multiple NIH R01 -funded grants in psychiatric epidemiology acting as Principal Investigator.​ Dr. Mojtabai's clinical and academic expertise focuses on psychiatric epidemiology and the delivery of mental health services. His highly cited research explores:
Substance Abuse & Opioid Trends: Evaluating nationwide patterns, patient outcomes, and disparities in access to care for substance use disorders and Opioid Use Disorder (OUD).
Youth Mental Health: Tracking trends in mental health disorders, psychological distress, and the usage patterns of psychotropic medications among children and adolescents.
