Dr Samer El Hayek MD, MSc
Dr Samer El Hayek, MD, MSc, is an Adult and Addiction Psychiatrist with expertise spanning clinical practice, academic medicine, research and medical education. He is an expert contributor sharing his research insights and expertise with The OAD Clinic. He currently practises at the American Center for Psychiatry and Neurology (ACPN) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he provides specialist psychiatric care with a particular focus on addiction and mental health.

Dr El Hayek has held academic appointments at the American University of Beirut (AUB), where he serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry within the Department of Psychiatry. Alongside his clinical work, he has developed an extensive research portfolio, publishing widely in the fields of psychiatry, drug addiction medicine and public mental health, and contributing to international collaborations aimed at improving evidence-based psychiatric and mental health care.

Throughout his career, Dr El Hayek has been actively involved in a number of leading professional organisations. He is a member of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) through its Early Career Psychiatrists Section, a member of the Lebanese Psychiatric Society, and a Full Member of Sigma Xi – The Scientific Research Honor Society, reflecting his ongoing commitment to research excellence and professional development.

In addition to his clinical and academic responsibilities, Dr El Hayek regularly contributes to international psychiatric education, scientific publications and professional conferences. His work focuses on advancing the understanding and treatment of drug addiction and other psychiatric disorders while promoting high-quality, patient-centred mental healthcare through research, education and multidisciplinary collaboration.
